KATE SMITH'S MUSHROOM AND SLICED CHICKEN CASSEROLE


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 4 tbls. melted butter
  • 2 cups sliced cooked chicken
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken bouillon
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • Salt and pepper
  • Paprika

Directions:

  • Preheat over to 350º F.
  • Place one-half bread crumbs, which have been mixed with melted butter, in flat casserole, then place chicken on top.
  • Make another layer with sliced mushrooms.
  • Mix together, the cream, chicken broth, white wine, salt, pepper and paprika and put over contents in casserole.
  • Add remaining bread crumbs as topping.
  • Bake until crumbs have turned a golden brown and casserole is bubbling.
  • Cool and serve with sprigs of fannel.

Serves 4.
