.C. Neil AshA Man of the World who gives to the World. . First Annual International Philanthropy Award Neil Ash is truly a man of the world and a person of the people. He has had a long and distinguished educational, military, professional, business and volunteer career. Commissioned as a Naval officer at the age of 19, Neil served in the Pacific during World War II and was recalled to active duty during the Korean War, including service in the Arctic. He received many medals recognizing his bravery and leadership-notably: the American Campaign, the Asiatic-Pacific and Philippine Liberation. Neil holds an L.L.B. from the University of Southern California. He is past President, Corporate Law Section, LA County Bar Assn.; and past President, (USA Section), Inter-American Bar Assn. He is retired Vice President of Allied-Signal, including five years of European residency and service as director or officer of American President Lines, Mack Trucks and Semtech Corp. Neil Ash shines in many arenas, but his volunteer career is exemplary. Aside from his financial support of the organizations in which he participates, he is Vice President and Trustee, SD Museum of Art; Member, Board of Councilors, School of Law, USC; past Chairman, Board of Regents, Concordia Univ. (Irvine); Founder Director, Lincoln Club of SD; Recipient of Special President's Award, SD (Walt Zabel) Chapter, The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame; Executive Advisor, SD USO; and Member, Board of Governors, USO World Headquarters, Washington, D.C. While President of the SD USO, Neil conceived and led the successful effort to establish an USO Center at the San Diego Airport' with a new facility to open later this month, it will be the largest USO Airport Center in the world. It will be named in Neil's honor, Women's International Center is privileged to acknowledge Neil Ash, a proven humanitarian and philanthropist.
