Dolores Hope
Worker for Women and Children Dolores and Bob Hope have been married over fifty years, and throughout those memorable years she has shared the joy of giving to the world. Her dedication to home, family, the Roman Catholic Church and her many charitable endeavors for the unfortunate of the world notes Dolores Hope as one of the world's great humanitarians. One of her most active philanthropies is her service to the Eisenhower Medical Center at Palm Desert, California. From 1968 to 1976, much of the hospital's early achievements are credited to the efforts of Dolores Hope. She presently is Chairman of the Board for the hospital, serves on the Board of Directors of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. and gives unstinting support to her husband's many humanitarian works. Mrs. Hope has accompanied Bob Hope on many of his overseas tours, beginning in Anchorage, Alaska in 1942. In 1966, Dolores Hope traveled to Southeast Asia, accompanying her globe-trotting husband when he made his 22nd and final overseas Christmas tour. Mrs. Hope, a professional singer and song stylist for many years, has also entertained troops throughout the world. Dolores Hope has been honored, feted and is esteemed in every corner of the globe. She has several honorary doctorates, including those given by St. Michael's College, St. Bonaventure University, Benedictine College and St. Louis University. She has received: The Eleanor Darnell Carroll Award, for successfully combining her role of wife and mother with that of being a responsible member of her community from Georgetown University, Outstanding Mother of the Year, for her capabilities as a mother and wife, her activities as a community leader and her numerous philanthropies, by the Helping Hands Organization of Cedar-Sinai Hospital, The Gift of Life Award, in recognition of her work as Founding President of the Board of Directors of the Agency from 1949-1951, by Holy Family Adoption Service. Each of Mrs. Hope's many awards and honors speak to her total dedication to others and their needs. Dolores and Bob Hope have four children: Linda, Tony, Kelly and Honorah, and many grandchildren. She is beloved by them all. Love and caring, two words that perfectly describe Dolores Hope.
